HISTORY OF THE NORTH CAROLINA MASS BAND (NCMB)

The North Carolina Mass Band was originally founded as “The North Carolina All-Star Band” in 2017 by a group of bandsmen who were inspired by their experiences during their time of membership in North Carolina Band programs to create a community ensemble that would rehearse and perform in the summer.

The ensemble has grown from featuring mostly Piedmont
Triad Area bandsmen to now being composed of a variety of performing arts students from high schools all over the state of North Carolina and colleges all over the country.

While under the name “The North Carolina All-Star Band”, the ensemble has performed in community engaging performances such as parades and festivals while also participating in various battles of the bands.

After the completion of the summer 2022 event schedule, the program underwent
reconstruction and became The North Carolina Mass Band; a program that expounds upon the summer ensemble by seeking to support North Carolina performing arts programs through instruction, performances, scholarship and educational opportunities, and mentoring for our youth performers.
